Integration Center Updates

Dec 13, 2016 1:00:00 PM / by Whitaker-Taylor

Integration Center UpgradesMany data operations once the exclusive domain of IT experts have become tools for ordinary business users. One such operation is extracting data from SuccessFactors to send to other systems.

The SuccessFactors Integration Center is a tool that allows SuccessFactors Administrators and analysts to create, run and schedule one-way integrations. By providing user-friendly tools to build file extracts using data in the OData APIs (data dictionary), it enables you to run reports and share them to an SFTP folder to make them available to other systems.

For those of us who use the Integration Center often, recent enhancements have made our work easier. Here are four of them that we find most useful.

  1. 1. Refresh Button

Before this enhancement, we had to click away from the process and go to the Execution Manager to search for the job information. We now a refresh button and other icons that allow us to see the status of the scheduled jobs on the work screen.

  1. 2. Debug Advanced Calculations

If you are using advanced calculations in the Integration Center, you have now the ability to preview a record and apply each calculation to it to test it. Before we had this tool, we had to debug the entire formula to search for errors.

  1. 3. Chaining Advanced Calculations

Now you can “chain” non-numeric values to create a single value. A simple example would be:

Field Value = Last Name Append “,” Append First Name to Upper Case.

This is similar to concatenating values in Online Report Designer (ORD).

  1. 4. SFTP Port

Some controversy exists whether it makes good sense to change the default SFTP port to enable “security through obscurity.” The theory is that it is harder to attack an exposed port if you don’t know which port it is.

Regardless of which side of the argument you are on, you may have a situation where the system owner receiving a file will want to change the default port 22 to another port number. You can now accommodate those requests using the Destination Settings tab. The default is 22, but now you can change it to anything between 0 and 65535.
